Steven and Trista have been talking about getting married and having a family for many months, but nothing was official. Early in August, Steven had "the talk" with Trista's father. Thankfully, Steven survived the evening and sought the ring. On Friday, August 7th, we were having dinner with Trista's parents and Lucas, a seminarian from our parish, and Trista's dad walks onto the patio with a tray of ouzo. Of course, neither of us expected the family tradition of the ouzo toast until Trista had the ring, but our family was so excited, we decided now was the perfect time to express our intentions to marry and continue loving each other for the rest of our lives! It was spontaneous, honest, and the best night of both of our lives!
The next evening, we celebrated our engagement
with a long walk down the beach and a beautiful kiss under the boardwalk.
When we returned from the beach, Steven picked up the ring from the jeweler
and, in Freedom Park, got down on one knee and asked, again, if Trista would
accept the ring and agree to spend the rest of her life loving him! How could
she say no!
