Hair depicts a journey where Claude believes that the era is the beginning of the end. The characters want to experience life; however, they feel the world is getting in the way. The Lighting design suggests the feeling of ending by using sunsets as inspiration. The bright colors are both found in sunsets and reflective of the carefree and youthful energy of the characters. Back light is the dominant key, providing long shadows in front of the characters. This effect can be seen as the shadows from a sunset or their current life clouding them from looking at what is in front of them.
