Big Love is a story of passion. The lighting accents the passion and power of the women through subtle pink. It also incorporates lighting qualities perceived as perfect for a wedding day, like dusk on a summer evening with soft lavender lights and powerful sunlight. The murder has a crazy rock 'n roll feel to it. The lights are orange and yellow to stress the anger without using steriotypical red. Big Love is anything but steriotypical. As the story progresses, the lighting moves from realistic to ultra-theatrical, based on the extent of realism in each scene.
